Dr Christine Manley - MBBS, FRANZCOG, DDU

Dr Christine Manley is a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a special interest in Ultrasound, who has personally delivered over 1,000 local Tasmanians. Chris obtained her primary medical degree from Adelaide University in 1984.  She received further training in obstetrics, anaesthetics, emergency medicine and paediatrics at Princess Margaret Hospital for children, King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women and Sir Charles Gardner Hospital in WA before embarking on an early career in remote and rural medicine predominately in outback WA.

Chris spent 3 years doing emergency medicine working as a Flying Doctor with the Royal Flying Doctor Service servicing the mining, aboriginal and remote communities.

After realising that Obstetrics and Gynaecology was her calling, Chris undertook specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women in Perth, WA.

Chris moved to Launceston with her young family in 2000, fell in love with Tasmania and stayed. Since then she has worked in both the public and private sectors at Calvary Hospital and as a Visiting Medical Officer at Launceston General Hospital.

Chris has enjoyed the varied practice of general and high-risk obstetrics and gynaecology in Launceston and more recently has undertaken advanced training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ultrasound obtaining her Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound from the Australian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine in 2011.  This has enabled Chris to provide a tertiary level ultrasound service and invasive prenatal testing (amniocentesis and CVS) in Launceston. Chris now runs a private specialist Obstetrics and Gynaecology ultrasound practice providing scans at all stages of pregnancy and is an examiner in ultrasound for the Royal Australian & New Zealand college of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists.

Chris has broad gynaecological experience providing care for women of all ages.  Chris is a certified colposcopist and can manage all pap smear abnormalities, as well as offering treatment of menstrual disorders with either IUDs or endometrial ablation and hysterectomies. Chris is also able to offer surgical and non-surgical options for prolapse including pelvic floor repair, infertility investigation and management, and laparoscopy for investigation and management of infertility and ovarian cysts.

Chris’s aim is to provide the highest level of care for all her patients. She feels privileged to have provided pregnancy and delivery care for high and low-risk patients since arriving in Launceston. Her aim is to provide a safe delivery and positive birth experience to all women.

 When not working, Chris is an outdoor person enjoying hiking, cycling and running. Chris also loves classical music and currently plays saxophone in the UTAS symphonic band.

Dr Amanda Dennis - MBBS, FRANZCOG, MForensMed

Dr Amanda Dennis trained as Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Sydney and Glasgow, Scotland and practised for 6 years in Westmead Sydney before seeking a tree-change with her young family to Launceston Tasmania. Amanda practises as a Private and Public Obstetrician in Launceston with a special interest in Diabetic and high risk pregnancy.

Amanda has a wide ranging gynaecological practise including child and adolescent gynaecology, fertility investigation and treatment (with referral of IVF patients to the Centre of their Choice), family planning/sterilisation, menstrual and bleeding disorders and treatment of prolapse and bladder disorders.

Amanda provides Colposcopy services and is recognised as a teacher and examiner of by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians Gynaecologists.

After consultation with Amanda, women have the option of surgical procedures in the private or public sector in Launceston. When not working, Amanda enjoys family activities, travelling, and can be found volunteering with Swimming Tasmania or cheering on her daughters at netball.
